Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: July 31, 2026
Last Updated: July 31, 2026
Accessibility Standard: WCAG 2.1, Level AA

Service Manual Experts is committed to making our website, checkout, and digital manual delivery usable by as many people as possible, including customers who use a keyboard, screen reader, magnification, or other assistive technology. This Accessibility Statement explains the accessibility measures we have implemented, the areas we continue to improve, known limitations, and how customers can contact us when they experience an accessibility barrier.

Our Commitment

Accessibility is part of how we build and maintain this store.

We provide instant digital-download service manuals, workshop repair guides, and technical repair documentation for cars, trucks, motorcycles, and heavy equipment through our Shopify-based storefront. Because the customer journey, including browsing, checkout, and receiving digital downloads, takes place online, we treat digital accessibility as an important part of operating our business.

We have reviewed our storefront, product and category pages, cart, and checkout against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We also consider WCAG 2.2 as an additional reference for future improvements. This statement explains our accessibility efforts honestly, including the limitations that may apply to digital content that we did not create ourselves.

Standard Referenced: WCAG 2.1, Level AA
Platform: Shopify-hosted storefront
Scope: Storefront, cart, and checkout
Product Files: See the Digital Manuals section below
Review Status: Ongoing accessibility review
Applicable Markets: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada

How Accessibility Is Built Into the Storefront

We continually work to improve accessibility across the website and customer journey.

Structure and Navigation

Our pages use semantic HTML headings, logical content organization, landmark regions, and a predictable reading order to help screen readers and other assistive technologies navigate the website.

Our accessibility measures include:

  • Descriptive page titles and heading hierarchy
  • Skip-to-content functionality and logical tab order
  • Consistent navigation across website pages
  • Logical organization of important information

Keyboard and Input Support

Core functions, including browsing collections, adding a digital manual to the cart, and completing checkout, are designed to be usable with a keyboard without requiring a mouse or trackpad. Interactive elements are designed to provide a visible focus indicator.

Our accessibility measures include:

  • Visible keyboard focus states
  • No intentional keyboard traps in menus or forms
  • Appropriate touch-target sizing for mobile users
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and essential customer functions

Visual Design and Readability

We use text and background combinations designed to provide appropriate contrast, resizable text that can be enlarged without unnecessary loss of content, and alternative text for meaningful images and icons.

Our accessibility measures include:

  • Colour contrast reviewed against WCAG AA guidance
  • Text that can be resized without unnecessary loss of content
  • Alternative text for relevant product and informational images
  • Readable page structure and content presentation

Digital Manuals and Technical Documentation

Our storefront is designed with accessibility in mind. However, some digital manuals and technical documents available through our website may have accessibility limitations because they were created independently of our storefront.

Some files are provided as PDF documents that were originally prepared for print. Older or scanned editions may not be fully navigable by screen readers, may not contain a tagged reading order, or may present diagrams, tables, and other technical information as images without embedded alternative text.

We do not alter, retag, or substantially rewrite technical documentation when doing so could change the technical information, specifications, procedures, diagrams, or other content contained in the file. Instead, we aim to provide clear information about the available file format and work with customers individually when a purchased file presents an accessibility issue.

Before You Buy

Where information is available, product listings identify the manual's format and whether the file is text-based or a scanned-image PDF. This information can help customers determine whether a particular file is likely to work with their screen reader or other assistive technology before completing a purchase.

After You Buy

If a digital manual you purchased cannot be used effectively with your assistive technology, please contact us. Where technically feasible, we may attempt OCR text-recognition processing, provide the content in a more accessible format, or issue a refund in accordance with our Refund Policy.

Known Accessibility Limitations

We believe in providing clear information about accessibility limitations rather than making absolute claims that every digital file or third-party service will work with every assistive technology.

1. Scanned or Image-Based Manual Pages

Some older digital manuals are distributed as scanned page images. These files may not be readable by screen-reading software until OCR processing has been applied. Diagrams and other visual elements may continue to require visual interpretation.

2. Complex Technical Diagrams

Wiring diagrams, exploded parts views, torque diagrams, charts, and other technical illustrations often communicate information through spatial relationships. Where these elements appear inside a PDF, a complete text equivalent may not always be available, even after accessibility review or text-recognition processing.

3. Third-Party Embedded Tools

Payment providers, live chat services, and other third-party tools integrated into our website may be operated by independent service providers. We select services that publish accessibility information or commitments where available, but we do not directly control their underlying code or accessibility features.

Accessibility and Applicable Markets

We use WCAG 2.1, Level AA as our primary practical accessibility benchmark and consider relevant accessibility requirements and guidance applicable to the markets we serve.

United States

We aim to align our digital accessibility practices with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and relevant Section 508 principles as reflected through WCAG 2.1, Level AA. Certain jurisdictions may also have additional online accessibility requirements, which we may consider as our storefront develops.

United Kingdom

We have regard to the Equality Act 2010, which requires reasonable steps to avoid disadvantaging disabled customers. We also use WCAG 2.1, Level AA as a practical accessibility benchmark.

Australia

We have regard to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), which applies to the provision of goods, services, and online facilities. We use WCAG 2.1, Level AA as our practical technical benchmark, consistent with relevant accessibility guidance.

Canada

We have regard to the Accessible Canada Act 2019 and applicable provincial legislation, including Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We use WCAG 2.1, Level AA as our practical technical accessibility standard.

Assistive Technology We Design and Test For

We design and periodically review our storefront, product listings, cart, and checkout with a range of assistive technology and accessibility settings in mind.

This includes:

  • Screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
  • Keyboard-only navigation without a mouse or trackpad
  • Browser and operating-system text resizing
  • Zoom levels up to 200 percent
  • High-contrast display settings
  • Reduced-motion display settings

We do not guarantee compatibility with every combination of browser, operating system, device, and assistive technology. However, the technologies and settings listed above are part of our working accessibility baseline.

Ongoing Monitoring and Improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time project. As we add new product listings, collections, pages, or storefront features, we review them against WCAG 2.1, Level AA before and after launch where practical.

When a customer or automated accessibility scan identifies a barrier, we record the issue, assess its impact, prioritize appropriate improvements, and correct issues that are within our control as part of our ongoing website maintenance and development process.

Our ongoing accessibility process includes:

  • Reviewing new pages and templates for heading structure, contrast, and keyboard operation
  • Reviewing reported accessibility issues and correcting issues within our control
  • Reviewing this Accessibility Statement at least annually
  • Updating accessibility practices when material changes are made to the storefront

Alternative Formats and Individual Assistance

If you are unable to access any part of our website, complete a purchase, or use a digital manual you have already purchased because of an accessibility barrier, please contact us.

We will work with you to complete an order through an alternative method where reasonably possible, including by email or live chat. For digital manuals affected by scanned-image limitations, we may attempt to provide a text-recognized or otherwise more accessible version of the same technical document where feasible.

Accessibility assistance is handled on an individual basis because the appropriate solution may depend on the specific page, digital file, device, browser, or assistive technology involved.

What We Are Responsible For

We are responsible for the accessibility of the storefront pages, website navigation, cart, and checkout that we build and control. We also take responsibility for responding to accessibility barriers reported to us and for making reasonable improvements within our control.

We cannot guarantee the accessibility of every digital document or third-party service that we do not create or directly operate. However, when an accessibility issue is reported, we will make reasonable efforts to help customers access the relevant information or complete their purchase through another available method.

Changes to This Accessibility Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as our storefront, accessibility testing, accessibility practices, or applicable requirements evolve.

The effective date and last updated date shown at the beginning of this page identify the current version of this statement. Material changes may be reflected through an updated effective date.

Report an Accessibility Barrier

If you experience an accessibility barrier while using our website, completing a purchase, accessing a digital manual, or using another part of our online services, please contact us.

When reporting an issue, please provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • The website page or product involved
  • A description of the accessibility barrier
  • The device and browser you were using
  • The assistive technology you were using, if applicable
  • Any steps that caused or reproduced the issue

This information helps us understand the problem and determine an appropriate solution.
