Privacy policy
This page explains, in plain and complete terms, what personal information Service Manual Experts collects when you browse our store or purchase a digital service manual, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it depending on where you live. Please read this page before placing an order, and refer back to it any time you have a question about how your information is handled.
Effective date: August 1, 2026 Last updated: September 2, 2026 Applies to: Visitors & customers in the US, UK, Australia & Canada Legal operator: Irie Lee LLC
Overview and Scope
Service Manual Experts is a specialized, online-only retailer selling downloadable digital service manuals and workshop repair guides for cars, trucks, motorcycles, and heavy equipment. We do not operate a physical shop or warehouse, and this policy is written specifically around that fact — around a business where the only thing that ever reaches you is a file, sent instantly to the e-mail address you provide at checkout.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit servicemanualexperts.com, browse our manual catalog, contact us, or place an order; why we collect it; who we share it with and why; how long we keep it; and the specific rights available to you depending on whether you are ordering from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or Canada, which are the only four markets we currently sell into.
This policy works alongside, and does not replace, our Terms of Service, our Refund & Return Policy, and our Legal Notice.
Who We Are, and Who Is Responsible for Your Information
Service Manual Experts is the storefront of Irie Lee LLC, a company registered in Georgia, United States. Irie Lee LLC is the entity legally responsible for deciding how and why your personal information is processed in connection with this store — referred to in some countries' laws as the "data controller" or "business."

Related Storefront Disclosure
Service Manual Experts is owned and operated by Irie Lee LLC and is affiliated with Heavy Duty Manuals, a separate storefront operated by Lee Irie LLC. Both companies share the registered business address shown in this policy. This corporate relationship does not represent an affiliation with any vehicle or equipment manufacturer. Irie Lee LLC remains responsible for personal information collected through Service Manual Experts as described in this policy.
Our store runs on the Shopify platform, which also processes certain information on our behalf to operate the storefront, checkout, and hosting infrastructure, subject to Shopify's own privacy and processor terms. Where we use other third-party services described in Section 7 below, those providers act either as independent controllers of the information they collect directly, or as processors acting only on our instructions, depending on the service.
Personal Information We Collect
Because we sell a single type of digital product delivered by e-mail, we collect meaningfully less personal information than a store shipping physical goods would. We collect only what is needed to process your order, deliver your manual, communicate with you, and keep our store secure and lawful.
Information you give us directly
Your name, e-mail address, billing address, and country, provided at checkout; the vehicle make, model, and year you select for your manual; any information you include in an e-mail, live-chat message, or a form such as our Privacy Opt-Out & Data Rights Request Form; and your e-mail address if you subscribe to updates.
Information collected automatically
Standard device and usage data collected when you browse our store, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring website, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is collected through Shopify's platform-level analytics and the cookies described in Section 6.
Order and payment confirmation data
When you check out, our payment processor handles your card or wallet details directly. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded, the last four digits and type of the payment method used, and a transaction reference — never your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials, which we never see or store.
Information we do not collect
Because every product we sell is a digital download, we never collect a shipping address, and we have no reason to collect government identification numbers, biometric data, or precise real-time GPS location. We do not knowingly collect any special-category or sensitive personal information beyond what is described above.
How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information described in Section 3 only for the following purposes:
- To process your payment, confirm your order, and deliver the correct manual to the e-mail address you provided, generally within minutes of purchase.
- To respond to support requests sent by e-mail or live chat, including re-sending a download link or troubleshooting a file issue.
- To process a refund request in line with our Refund & Return Policy, where one applies.
- To send you marketing e-mails about new manuals or promotions, only where you have opted in, and always with an unsubscribe option in every message.
- To keep records required for tax, accounting, and bookkeeping purposes under the law of the United States and, where applicable, your own country.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, or misuse of our checkout system or downloadable files, including patterns associated with the unauthorized redistribution of manuals.
- To understand, in aggregate, how visitors use our store, so we can improve our product listings, site performance, and catalog.
We do not use your personal information to make any decision about you that produces a legal or similarly significant effect without human involvement, and we do not use your order history to run cross-context behavioral advertising campaigns that track you across unrelated third-party websites.
Our Legal Bases for Processing
For customers in the United Kingdom, and for any customer whose information is subject to a similar legal framework, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
- Contract: processing your order, delivering your manual, and handling a refund request, because this is necessary to perform the contract formed when you purchase from us.
- Legitimate interests: preventing fraud, securing our checkout and download systems, and understanding aggregate site usage, balanced against your right to privacy.
- Legal obligation: keeping transaction and tax records for the period required by law.
- Consent: sending marketing e-mails and, where required by your browser settings or local law, placing non-essential cookies, both of which you may withdraw at any time as described in Sections 6 and 12.
For customers in the United States, Australia, and Canada, we process personal information on comparable grounds under the applicable laws described in Section 11: to fulfil the transaction you requested, to comply with our legal obligations, and, where relevant, with your consent.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our store, built on Shopify, uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the shopping cart and checkout, remember items you have added, keep you logged in if you create an account, and understand in aggregate how visitors use the site. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the store to function; others are used for analytics, and, where enabled, for measuring the performance of our own marketing.
We do not use cookies to build cross-site advertising profiles about you that are sold or shared with unrelated third parties for money. Where a browser or regional setting requires a cookie consent banner, our storefront presents one and honors the choice you make.
You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent checkout from working correctly. For a full account of individual cookies and their purposes, see our Cookie Policy, linked in the footer of this site.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing purposes. We share personal information only with the specific categories of service providers below, and only to the extent needed for them to perform their function for us.
Our e-commerce platform
Shopify hosts our store, powers our checkout, and processes order data on our behalf as part of operating the platform, under its own merchant and privacy terms.
Payment processors
When you pay with American Express, Apple Pay, Diners Club, Discover, Google Pay, Mastercard, PayPal, or Visa, your payment details are transmitted directly to the relevant payment processor, which handles and stores your card or wallet information under its own security standards. We never receive or store your full card number.
E-mail and delivery service providers
We use transactional e-mail providers to send your order confirmation and download link, and, if you have opted in, a separate mailing service to send marketing updates. These providers process your e-mail address solely to deliver the messages we instruct them to send.
Analytics providers
We use standard, aggregate web analytics tools built into or connected to our Shopify store to understand traffic and catalog performance. These tools process device and usage data as described in Section 3, generally in a de-identified or aggregated form.
Legal, safety, and business-transfer disclosures
We may disclose personal information where required by law, subpoena, or court order; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Service Manual Experts, our customers, or the public; to investigate fraud or unauthorized redistribution of our manuals; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, in which case the receiving party would be bound by terms at least as protective as this policy.
International Data Transfers
Irie Lee LLC is based in the United States, and the service providers described in Section 7, including Shopify, our payment processors, and our e-mail providers, operate infrastructure in the United States and other countries. If you are ordering from the United Kingdom, Australia, or Canada, this means your personal information will be transferred to, and processed in, the United States.
Where such a transfer is subject to the UK GDPR or comparable law, we and our service providers rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under that law, such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism offered by the provider, to protect your information to a standard consistent with the protections described on this page.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep order and transaction records, including the personal information within them, for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes described in Section 4, and afterward for as long as required to meet our tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping obligations under United States federal and Georgia state law, which is generally several years from the date of the transaction.
Support e-mails and live-chat messages are kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve your query and for a further period to handle any follow-up. If you have subscribed to marketing e-mails, we keep your e-mail address for that purpose until you unsubscribe. Where you have exercised a deletion right described in Section 11, we delete or de-identify the personal information covered by that request, subject to the limited exceptions explained there.
How We Protect Your Information
Checkout on our store runs entirely through Shopify's encrypted, PCI-compliant payment infrastructure, meaning your card details are never handled or stored on our own systems. Access to the order and customer information we do hold is limited to the small team members who need it to fulfil orders and provide support, and we take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information in a way that requires notification under applicable law, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the timeframe that law requires.
Your Privacy Rights by Country
We sell into four markets, and privacy law is not identical across them. Regardless of where you live, you can exercise any of the rights below by e-mailing contact@servicemanualexperts.com or by completing our Privacy Opt-Out & Data Rights Request Form. We will never charge you a fee, or provide you with a different price or level of service, because you exercised a privacy right.
United States
Where applicable state privacy law gives you the right to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, we honor that right. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Our marketing and disclosure practices follow FTC guidance on truthful, clearly disclosed advertising.
United Kingdom
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability where technically applicable. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at any time.
Australia
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you may request access to and correction of the personal information we hold about you, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have mishandled it.
Canada
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law, you may request access to, and correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and withdraw consent to its use where consent was the basis for collecting it, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
Because our request-verification and response timelines differ slightly by country and by the type of request, the full procedure — including how we verify your identity, what happens if you use an authorized agent, and the exact response timeframe for your country — is set out on our Privacy Opt-Out & Data Rights Request Form page. We aim to acknowledge every request within one business day.
We may retain certain personal information even after a deletion request where necessary to complete a transaction you initiated, comply with a legal or tax obligation, detect and prevent fraud, or exercise or defend a legal claim. Where an exception applies, we will tell you which one and delete everything else.
Marketing Communications and Your Preferences
If you subscribe to our e-mail list or opt in at checkout, we will send you occasional e-mails about new manuals, promotions, or store updates. Every marketing e-mail includes a clear unsubscribe link, and you may withdraw consent at any time by clicking it, by e-mailing contact@servicemanualexperts.com, or by completing our Privacy Opt-Out & Data Rights Request Form.
Unsubscribing from marketing e-mails does not affect transactional messages, such as your order confirmation, download link, or replies to a support request, which we will continue to send because they are necessary to deliver the manual you purchased.
Children's Privacy
Our store and the products we sell — technical repair documentation for vehicles and heavy equipment — are directed at adults and are not intended for use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@servicemanualexperts.com.
Third-Party Links and Payment Providers
Our store may contain links to third-party websites, and checkout is processed through third-party payment providers such as PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This Privacy Policy applies only to servicemanualexperts.com. Once you leave our site, or you interact directly with a payment provider's own interface, that third party's own privacy policy governs how it handles your information, and we encourage you to review it.
